Friends Group Project #4

I delivered three objects from the UNI Permanent Art Collection to the Midwest Art Conservation Center (MACC) on Friday, Nov. 12, 2021. MACC will create treatment proposals and begin work on our Hofmann painting on paper, our Vandenberge ceramic sculpture, and our one-and-only Renaissance oil on canvas. All this with the blessing and support of the Friends of the PAC&G.

Rainy, sleety day on the road, but all arrived safely.

The Earth Is a House of Stories

The Earth is a House of Stories: Works from the Permanent Art Collection by Native Artists is a UNI Gallery of Art exhibition based on objects from the Collection. Other objects were borrowed from UNI Museum, the Waseskuk family, and the YoungBear family.

"The title is taken from a line in N. Scott Momaday’s book, Earth Keeper: Reflections on the American Land

This exhibition highlights works of art housed in the UNI Gallery of Art Permanent Collection and the UNI Museum by historical and contemporary Native artists. Showcasing these works is part of a university-wide effort to adopt a Land Stewardship Statement this fall while continuing to build and honor respectful and nourishing partnerships with the Meskwaki Nation and Native people in Iowa"

- Angela Waseskuk (UNI alumna, 2003)

The lower 2 images are objects I loaned to the Gallery for this exhibition.
