We Are the Asteroid

Last night (11/13/19) artist/activist Justin Brice Guariglia gave a sobering talk in UNI's Lang Hall auditorium. He spoke of dramatic climatic events, species die-offs, and unprecedented cultural collapses world-wide, but his work manages to provide humor, levity, and arch language to balance the intensity of the message. For a few weeks we'll be honored with his installation We Are the Asteroid II (see above). The Aldo Leopold Lecture Series organizers should be commended for bringing him, and his art, to our community.

Matt & Kimber at the Albright-Knox

Images by Matt Taylor of the Anthony McCall exhibition at the Albright-Knox in Buffalo, NY. Matt and Kimber attended the final day of Dark Rooms, Solid Light, a survey of the British installation artist's work from the 1970s to the present. The museum has now closed its doors for a two-year construction/expansion project. Sounds exciting!

Happy 55th!

Happy Birthday, Troy!

Here are some autumn collages from the yard, or as Ace likes to put it, the Taylor-Ace Arboretum. These are the last blooms, fruits, and mysterious interiors before winter 2019 blankets us in ice and snow.
Dedicated to brother Troy. Much love!

At Mayor Pete's Town Hall, RiverLoop Amphitheatre, Waterloo, with Ace. Oh so rainy, and oh so cold! Somehow Mayor Pete, Mayor Hart, and Black Hawk County Democrats Chair Vicki Brown kept us warm.

En Plein Air, Amana Colonies, IA

Amana Colonies, Iowa.
I was the juror this year.
A very fun event with food, drink, and live entertainment.
The Catiri's have grown this plein air competition each year. They are to be commended for the excitement they bring to these beautiful little villages in east-central Iowa.
